What is GTEM Cell?

A GTEM (Gigahertz Transverse Electro Magnetic) cell is a test site for performing both radiated immunity and emissions testing in a single, shielded environment. When you compare with other test sites, you will see that GTEM testing is faster with high accuracy and reproducibility. In principle, the GTEM cell is a coaxial line expanding pyramidally and having an impedance of 50 ohm. At its end, the line is terminated by a combination of termination resistors and RF absorbers designed and constructed to match the 50 ohm impedance. 

Essential parameters of GTEM Cells

1) Maximum septum height : Septum height of a GTEM defines maximum size of the tested, measured, calibrated item. 

2) Maximum Electric Field: Dimensions, design, construction and RF absorbers of a GTEM define maximum electric field that can be generated inside the GTEM cell.  

3) Filters: Which I/O signals do you want inside the GTEM cell? Filters allow I/O signals come inside and go outside without any RF or EMI leakage. 

4) Door size: Door size might allow the operator come inside to prepare measurement setup. Smaller GTEM door sizes does not allow operator to enter inside the GTEM.
