IEC defines EMC as follows:

ability of equipment or a system to function satisfactorily in its electromagnetic environment without introducing intolerable electromagnetic disturbances to anything in that environment

Ability of equipment or a system is understood after subjection to a set of EMC tests. Each EMC test corresponds to real life electromagnetic emissions or immunity issues. EMC is an essential parameter while developing and launching electronic products and systems since they have to be pass required electromagnetic compatibility tests. The industries affected by EMC are: space, defense, automotive, medical, consumer electronics, telecommunication, machinery, railway, avionics, iot and radio devices, wireless products and etc.
