Learn more about ATEX Directive

By definition, ‘Explosive Atmosphere’ means a mixture with air, under atmospheric conditions, of flammable substances in the form of gases, vapours, mists or dusts in which, after ignition has occurred, combustion spreads to the entire unburned mixture. ‘Potentially Explosive Atmosphere’ means an atmosphere which could become explosive due to local and operational conditions.

You can check protection levels on the below table which is given on the official ATEX 2014/34/EU Guidelines

(*) See as well the directives on minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of workers operating in potentially explosive atmospheres, e.g. those indicated in footnote 7 in the “Introduction”. The equipment in the various categories must also comply with the relevant essential and supplementary requirements detailed in Annex II to the Directive (essential health and safety requirements).
